Halloween is the perfect excuse to embrace your creative side and get crafting. Whether you're planning a spooky party or simply looking to add some sparkle to your home décor, glitter is the magic ingredient that turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. Here at Hemway, we love helping you shine – so we've put together 5 dazzling glitter craft ideas to make your Halloween frightfully fabulous.

1. Glittered Pumpkin Decorations

Carving pumpkins is a Halloween tradition, but it can be messy, time-consuming, and short-lived. For a stylish twist that lasts all season (and beyond), try glittered pumpkins. Faux pumpkins – available at most craft shops – are perfect for this, and they’re reusable year after year.

How to do it:

  1. Start with clean, dry faux pumpkins in varying sizes.
  2. Apply a layer of PVA glue evenly over the surface using a brush or sponge.
  3. While the glue is still wet, generously sprinkle your chosen Hemway glitter over the pumpkin. We recommend: (Classic orange for a traditional autumn feel, Deep purple for a mystical gothic twist, Black Holographic for an eerie, shimmering finish).
  4. Shake off the excess glitter and allow to dry completely.
  5. For extra durability, spray with a clear sealant.

Arrange them on your porch, windowsill, or as a table centrepiece for an eye-catching Halloween display.

2. Glittery Mason Jar Lanterns

Set the scene with these charming DIY lanterns that glow with spooky elegance. Perfect for placing along pathways, on window ledges, or dotted around the living room for a haunted-house vibe.

What you’ll need:

  • Clean mason jars or old jam jars
  • Black or orange acrylic paint
  • Paper silhouettes (bats, ghosts, witches’ hats, etc.)
  • Craft glue
  • Your favourite Hemway glitter (try glow-in-the-dark glitter for added drama)
  • Battery-powered tealights

Instructions:

  1. Paint the outside of your jar with black or orange paint – leave it patchy for a more rustic, aged look.
  2. Before the paint dries fully, gently press on your silhouettes so they slightly adhere.
  3. Apply glue around the rim or scattered areas, then sprinkle glitter for a shimmering effect.
  4. Once everything’s dry, pop in a tealight and watch your creations come alive with a flickering, spooky glow.

These also make excellent party decorations or thoughtful handmade gifts.

3. Glittered Halloween Masks

Take your costume to the next level with a DIY glitter mask. Whether you’re channelling a vampire, witch, or disco skeleton, glitter adds glamour and flair to your spooky persona.

Get started:

  • You’ll need a plain cardboard or felt mask.
  • Sketch your design lightly with pencil.
  • Apply glue to specific areas – around the eyes, cheekbones, or entire mask.
  • Use different Hemway glitters depending on your character: (Silver or red for vampires, Green or white iridescent for witches or goblins, Multicoloured/rainbow for a fabulous disco ghoul).
  • Add extra embellishments like sequins, feathers, or gems for a dramatic finish.
  • Attach elastic or ribbon to secure the mask.

These are perfect for Halloween parties, trick-or-treating, or costume contests!

4. Pumpkin Glitter Garland

Bring a burst of Halloween sparkle to your home with a charming pumpkin garland that’s easy to make and endlessly customisable.

Instructions:

  1. Cut out pumpkin shapes from orange card – aim for a mix of sizes.
  2. Create classic jack-o'-lantern faces from black card or draw directly onto the pumpkins.
  3. Apply glue to the eyes, mouths or outlines, and dust with glitter to make the features pop.
  4. Use a hole punch to punch holes at the top of each pumpkin and thread onto twine.
  5. Hang across your fireplace, staircase, or above a window for an instant Halloween lift.

It’s a great family project and can even be used as a countdown garland by numbering each pumpkin.

5. Glamorous Glitter Spider Webs

Who said spiders can’t be stylish? These glitter webs are both eerie and elegant – ideal for adding a spooky shimmer to your décor.

Method:

  1. Draw spider web designs directly onto black card with a glue pen/ fine tipped PVA glue – don’t worry about perfection; irregular lines add to the charm.
  2. Sprinkle silver glitter generously over the glue, then shake off the excess onto a sheet of paper to reuse.
  3. Allow to dry thoroughly, then carefully cut around the edges.
  4. Hang them on walls, doors, or suspend them from the ceiling for a hanging web display.

Bonus idea: add a glittery spider or two using black pipe cleaners and glittered pom-poms!

Final Sparkle

Halloween is the perfect excuse to get your hands dirty (or glittery!) and create something truly unique. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting out, these glitter projects will have your home glowing with Halloween spirit. All of the glitter colours used can be found in the Hemway glitter range – safe, easy to use, and fabulously sparkly.

So grab your glue, get your glitter, and let the spooky season begin!
